How your agent connects.

Setup is white-glove — we configure every channel end-to-end on your dedicated VM. This page is for the prep work: what we need from you ahead of kickoff, what we handle on our side, and what your agent can (and can't) do once it's live.

The five channels below are what we ship at launch. We support more — see the bottom of this page.

TelegramSlackWhatsAppDiscordMicrosoft Teams
Telegram logo

Telegram

Fastest channel to stand up. A bot token and (optionally) a group invite is all we need.

What you give us

Create a bot via @BotFather, share the bot token, and — if the bot will live in a specific group or channel — invite it as an admin and tell us the chat name.

What we do for you

Configure the webhook to your dedicated VM, set the persona, run a smoke test ("hi" → bot responds), then flip it live.

What the agent can do

DMs and group chats, inline buttons (great for approval flows), media (photos, voice notes), reply threading.

Limits

4096-character message limit, 30 messages/sec across all chats (Telegram's cap). For high-volume bots we shard automatically — you don't have to think about it.

Slack logo

Slack

One-click install for most workspaces. Enterprise Grid is a 15-minute walkthrough on the kickoff call.

What you give us

Install our Slack app to your workspace via the install link we share at kickoff. For Enterprise Grid customers, we walk you through creating a custom Slack app and sharing the Bot User OAuth Token plus Signing Secret.

What we do for you

Map the agent to the specific channels you choose, configure event subscriptions, smoke-test in a sandbox channel, then flip live.

What the agent can do

Channel messages, DMs, threaded replies, mentions, slash commands (if you want them), and Block Kit interactive messages.

Limits

Slack's Tier-3 rate limit caps roughly 50 messages/min/workspace; reactions and edits aren't billable but count toward rate. We back off automatically — bursts queue and drain cleanly.

WhatsApp logo

WhatsApp

Twilio under ~10k msgs/mo. Meta Cloud above that. We'll tell you which fits.

What you give us

A Twilio WhatsApp Business number or Meta Cloud API access. We'll guide you through which fits your volume — Twilio is simpler under ~10k msgs/mo, Meta Cloud is cheaper above that. For Twilio, share Account SID + Auth Token + the WhatsApp-enabled number; for Meta, share the Phone Number ID + WABA ID + a permanent access token.

What we do for you

Verify your business with the chosen provider if needed, configure the webhook to your VM, register message templates if your use-case needs proactive outreach, smoke-test, then flip live.

What the agent can do

Text, media (images, audio, docs), template messages, button replies, and list selectors. Free-form replies inside Meta's 24-hour customer-service window.

Limits

Meta's 24-hour rule. Outside the 24-hour window from the customer's last message, you can only send pre-approved templates — not free-form text. We help you write and submit templates if your flow needs them (~24-48h Meta review).

Discord logo

Discord

Bot token + guild invite. We run the persistent gateway connection on your VM.

What you give us

Create a Discord application and bot in the Discord Developer Portal, share the bot token, and tell us which guild (server) and channel(s) the agent should live in. Invite the bot to the guild with the link we provide.

What we do for you

Configure the gateway worker on your VM (Discord requires a persistent WebSocket, not just webhooks), set permissions, smoke-test in a #bot-test channel, then flip live.

What the agent can do

Channel messages, DMs, threads, embeds, reactions, slash commands, and replies. Voice channels are not supported.

Limits

2000-character message limit (we split longer messages into a thread), 5 messages/sec/channel, 50 invites/h. Discord rate-limits aggressively when a bot misbehaves; we monitor and back off automatically.

Microsoft Teams logo

Microsoft Teams

Azure AD app + Bot Framework. ~30-45 min of admin time on the kickoff call.

What you give us

An Azure AD app registration (we provide the manifest). For tenants without our manifest pre-installed: a Bot Framework registration in Azure (App ID, App Secret, Tenant ID). Most customers come through their Microsoft 365 admin — we walk you through it on the kickoff call. About 30-45 minutes of admin time.

What we do for you

Provision the Bot Framework token, register the bot in your tenant, configure the messaging endpoint to your VM, smoke-test, then flip live.

What the agent can do

Personal chats, channels, DMs, message extensions, and adaptive cards (great for approval flows). Mentions, replies, and threaded conversations.

Limits

Bot Framework messages are rate-limited at the tenant level (~1800/min); proactive messages need a stored conversation reference, which we manage automatically.

Don't see your channel?

We support 20+ channels in total — plus the niche ones most platforms forget about. If your customers are on it, Crew probably can be too. Email hello@crewlabs.net and we'll quote setup for any channel that has a public API.
